We are always thinking about what we can make next at The Gingerbread House, particularly when it means creating something that celebrates Market Drayton’s wonderful connection with gingerbread.
Our latest idea started with a simple question: could we make our own gingerbread cake stand?
Not just an ordinary cake stand bought in and decorated, but something we could design ourselves, 3D print here at The Gingerbread House and give a proper gingerbread twist.
So that is exactly what we have done.
Our very own Gingerbread Cake Stand
After designing, printing, assembling and making a few adjustments along the way, our Gingerbread Cake Stand is ready.
The centre fittings and Gingerbread Man topper are 3D printed by us, creating a stand that is a little different from anything you would normally find in the shops.
One of the things we particularly wanted was flexibility. The stand can be assembled and taken apart easily, and the design means additional levels can be added if you want to make an even bigger display.
Of course, we couldn’t stop at the stand itself.
Two ways to enjoy it
We have created decorative gingerbread plates to go with the stand, covered with little gingerbread people. These make a lovely display, although because they are decorative they are not suitable for direct contact with food.
That gave us another idea.
We found these brilliant gingerbread paper plates, including a gingerbread face and matching gingerbread body. Put them onto the stand in the right order and they line up to make one giant gingerbread character.
The paper plates are included with this version, so you can pile them with gingerbread, cakes, biscuits and other treats. Once the party is over, there is rather less washing up too!
